No doubt the gassers don't produce anything close to the performance increase that tuned diesels do. But for me, the increased drivability of better throttle response, positive shifting, shift points optimized to the powerband, holding gears longer while are worth the $$. The biggest issue I have with the 6.2 Boss is that Ford won't let WOT occur until the upper RPM range regardless of pedal position...having the tuner makes merging, and on ramps so much better than stock. Speedo correction for tire size, reading and clearing CEL's and the on board live engine/tranny monitoring are pluses as well.
