I did that and it lasted about 6 months. There is no UV protection with Zep. Now it looks as bad as ever and I have a heck of a mess trying to strip off the Zep so I can have it painted like I should have in the first place. I had my front cap painted and it looks good, should have done the rear at the same time. That is the ONLY way to permanently fix this problem.
