I am disgusted with the tires that came on my 2011 Ram Dually. General Ameritrack made in Mexico.I have 23K on them and they are more than 1/2 worn out. If that was not bad enough the last couple days the front end started acting up and today it got real bad. I checked the tires and there was about a 1/2" high raised area on the tread of the passenger front tire.I looked up General distributors and Discount Tire was listed. The sales guy measured all the tires and since one of the other tires were more than 2/32" thinner than the others he said he could only warrant the bad tire if I bought the other.No way was I going to throw good money after bad. I went to Costco and got a price for just over $1,800 for 6 Michelins. Called Discount and got a better grade Michelin for about $350 less. I was very surprised. So I told them to get them in and I will have them installed tomorrow.Time will tell but I always get over 100K on a set of Michelins.I tried to get Dave Smith to swap the POS tires for Michelins when I bought it but they said they all come with Generals.Now the truck will be the way it should have been from the factory.

I have a general tire with 61 K miles on it as a spare. I should buy a new spare as it is an 04 tire. I didn't like the generals so bought new tires at 13960 miles. chevman

AMd one wants michiblows on there truck cuz YYYYYY??????Tires are like twuck brands, some like brand M, others are disgusted with them. I've had more blowouts with that brand that ALL others combined. Cooper so far has been the only brand I have not had a blow out with. BUT< a number of others on here say Cooper is one of the worst tires they have owned......With that, I would agree generally speaking, Generals do not get great mileage! I got about 28K on my GM before I had to throw them out!Marty

A guy at work had a '11 RAM drw and had nothing but problems with the factory General tires and the Dodge dealer nor the tire store would do much to help. He replaced those tire with Michelins and had a much better riding truck thereafter.Having said that my Michelins will be lucky to get mid 20k miles.

I have always gotten good mileage with Michelins. 100K on my C20 2wd, 120K on my 98 2500 4X4 Ram Cummins and 150K on 81 VW PU rear tires never rotated still 1/3 tread left.

must say I've had good and bad experiences with just about every brand of tires. I think you're bound to get some bad tires from every brand....of course I am going back 40 years

Agreed, my f350 came with Michelins, the biggest POS set of tires I had ever seen.

I'm surprised that this is news to you. All manufactures really don't put that good of tires on anyways. We've had the same thing with our cars and other trucks from Toyota and Ford with Goodyears, Michlins, etc... The original Generals on my 2011 Ram 3500 dually were worn out and replaced at 38K with Goodyear Duratracs before winter hit six months ago. I kept the rotated and had two alignments done. They wore evenly and I never had a flat or tire issue.

Another pet peeve, not just General tires, but any brand are the reviews one finds on tires at various web sites.

TireRack.com for example. Multitudes of reviews on many different tires.

That is fine, dandy, good information.

BUT------

A fellow running the tires I like on a Chevy S-10, Toyota Four Runner or similar weight vehicle are surely going to get better wear out of them compared to my 3500 series pickups.

These types of reviews are really apples to oranges, no help at all really.

I had the Michelin tires installed today at Discount tire in Las Vegas. They were $300 less than Costco, I was shocked!

They did a good job and the tires ride nice. I expect to get many more miles than the junk that I just removed at 23K.

I've never run more then 35,000 miles on a set of tires on a diesel truck. I can't imagine getting 100,000 miles on a set.

I noticed some cupping on my fronts last week. Had the tires rotated, as the back are wearing better. My truck has 18,500 on the clock, tires look to have about 50% life left, so I am where I expect them to be.

My stock Generals on my dually have 32k, and two of the 6 are already down to the wear marks. Really unimpressed with them. I am going to Michelin next. My neighbor has them on his dually and has much better luck with them.

IMO, getting 50-60k miles out of any tire on a 3/4 ton and up truck is pretty darn good :h any more miles is a bonus!

My 2500HD Rams gave 100~k miles with MIchelins. A friend put 100k+ miles on a set of Coopers with his 2500HD. His previous Ford and my current Ford seem to wear tires out faster. At 62k miles, my original equipment Continentals are about done and I'm dreading buying new tires. The second set never seem to be balanced as well as factory installed tires.

After going through two major blow outs (both on the steer axle, once while towing, the other while heavy laden) on two General tires, I'm going to vote with the OP's opinion on this.

All the well stated reasoned logic in the world about the fallacy of making "generalizations" (haha) fades to black in the face of bitter memories from rough experience.
