I have the Yamaha 2800 Sieb (500 watt boost) which produces 23.3 amps, continuous (same as Honda) and the Microair. Easily start is NOT what I'd call it, and it most certainly does not run at the lowest eco speed--in fact it is more like 65% throttle. If I am in the mountains then I needs must use the hybrid inverter to ensure the air conditioner doesn't over load the Yamaha. My air conditioner is a 13500 btu Dometic from 2005. On a hot day (35 C or 95 F), after it has run for an hour, demand is over 1900 watts (measured) or 17 amps. Initially, watts are about 1200. I don't have a meter fast enough to measure start up surge.SoundGuy wrote:
If the OP installs a Micro-Air Easy Start Soft Starter Kit on his A/C an EU3000iS will easily start the A/C compressor every time and I'd bet it would hardly break ECO speed keeping it running, meaning the quietest solution he's going to find. :)
easy start does what it claims. Reduce the STARTING curent requirements. Doesn't do anything about the running current.
On mine the starting surge went from almost 60A to under 20A. But running current doesn't change one bit. And with my honda 2000 I experienced likely what you found. 5000+ft density altitude, 90F day and a honda 2000 will overload as would likely any other 2000ish VA generator depending on how much margin the engine has to compensate for altitude losses
