Unless you camp were there are no people or where generators are not allowed, you are going to irritate some folks.
If you are in a wilderness setting where folk expect solitude and the sounds of nature, generator noise at any level can be annoying. If you are in the infield at a stock car race track or camped in a field at a rock concert, your generator noise will cause little concern.
Good points all. That is why people should post their intended use. How many people park side by side in a beautiful mountain campground with their generators howling twenty four hours a day? Not me for sure. On the way there, I may run mine at the Walmart Astoria.
