Umm.. Although that is a good idea, I would doubt that for $100 you are going to buy much more than 45W of solar IF you are "lucky" to find that kind of deal.. Heck even with the best Harbor Freight "sale" on their solar "kit" it will cost you at least $150..
I am thinking the OP wasn't planning to spend much more than the $100 "deal" on the gen they found. Although the OP can often "find" Harbor Freight gens at rock bottom pricing..I often see a HF 900W peak 2hp gen for $99.
However instead of buying a $100 gen they CAN get a 2500W peak (2200W run) HF Inverter gen often on sale for $499 which will be much quieter (although not as quiet as the name brands).. Doubt it would be big enough to run a A/C unit but it will be plenty to cover charging the batteries plus microwave or coffee maker if needed.
