Honda and Yamaha snobs always exaggerate and spin things to try to justify the expense of their units
Umm..Not everyone!
Years ago I bought what I thought would run my AC(Coleman 13.5) without any trouble.A 3500 running watt/4000 surge Yamaha ES(Yamaha EF4000DE).One day it was 95 degree's out and we were traveling and needed air...It would not start the 13.5 AC in 95 degree heat.I sold it, and I am a Yamaha guy from head to toe from bikes to UTV's and ATV's.I bought a Honda 3000IS..It worked flawlessly in that weather and worse on several different air conditioners..The only thing it will not start is my Dewalt air compressor but my Generac 4000XL(5500 watt surge) won't either.
Sure the Honda's cost more but you just don't see reports of other generators lasting 10/15000 hours either.Just check out some Alaskan forums where a generator is there only means of electricity.
I have never understood why some have the money to buy new trucks tethered to a new RV worth 50-75K and complain about the cost of a honda generator.(laughing)It's like someone buying the best hunting rifle and scope money can buy and using the cheapest ammunition found..
I did a google search and had a hard time finding where the Honda 3K inverter would not run a 15k AC..The same could be said about the Champion not running a 13.5 AC..They are out there..Every manufacturer has it's lemons, ones that were not fully tuned to specs correctly.I assume that is why we have reports of the Champion 3100 not running a 13.5 AC and the Honda not running the 15K AC.
Yes I have two honda's but my eyes are watching the actual performance of the new Champion inverter gen sets should I ever need another generator for any reason.I to would like to save a dime if it performs as good as the honda and last as long as a honda or is as quiet as a honda.Only time will tell.
