We ran a Yamaha generator for 5? years when off the grid and it worked out well. Ran it for 3 hours per day to op off the batteries each day.
2 years ago, bought a Renogy 165W panel/controller. Even on cloudy days, this is good enough to top of the 2 batteries. My generator has not been used at all since.
