I think you can surmise SOLAR is the way to go...
Two things, see how much room on the roof of your camper you have and are willing to give up for solar panels. You still need to be able to make your way around the roof for maint. and such. Go online to check out solar panel sizes.
It is important that you have enough solar to effectively charge your battery bank. If you can get at least 400 watts on your roof than you can probably generate 16 or so amps to your batteries.
I hate that you would have to use the gen compartment for batteries as you can use it for all kinds of other storage stuff.
Torklift has two products that you might be interested in that can allow you to add additional batteries:
Hidden Power
Extend Power
Propane generators are much louder than any Honda gas generator and they really suck down propane.
Solar if you can, but if you can't, at least you tried.
