All good advice. I felt like I wanted a small generator for around the place anyway, but if it can't run a shop vac (I checked, 1400W) then it loses a lot of value. The camper is 25 years old so some of it will be less efficient than it is today.
I'll look for another switch for the fridge. Last night when I tried it, I unplugged from shore power so I know it wasn't drawing from there and didn't seem to be drawing from anywere.
Lots of little things to figure out. In the meantime, we're taking it out tonight for a single night trip.
