Ok folks, I have been thinking about this Generator.
It's a Power house PH2100PRI
Anyone here have one, Pros, Cons....
Thanks in advance for the info.

  • Sounds like the OP is looking for a low cost alternative to the Reds and Blues.
If you can find a Champion retailer in your area, the 2000s are usually $500 or less when there is a sale. I'm pretty sure mine will run longer than 3 hours at full load and is quieter than 66 db by a fur piece. You can buy two for around a grand or the 3100 if you just want one unit.
  • Which one do you have?

I have a yamaha 2k but i can't run the ac (not that i need it often).

has less than 10 hours on it. thinking about selling it and moving up to a 3k or something that will run the ac but very concerned about noise and a little about price.

if i can add a second one that is parallelable for around 600, then that might be better than buying a bigger one, in the event that i just want to take the smaller one for other things.

    looking at these
    for add on
    champion 2k

    replacements
    briggs 3k
    champion 3k

Buy a quiet generator once (less than 60dB), and you'll only cry once.

If you buy a cheap LOUD generator, you'll hate running it, particularly with a hybrid camper where you have almost no noise insulation due to the tenting, and the generator. And if you're like many of us that learned the hard way, end up selling it and buying a quiet one later. Of course taking a lo$$ on the sale.

66dB is VERY loud. Lawnmower up to cutting speed loud.

The Honda and Yamaha quiet series generators tend to be between 53-59 dB.

Sound measurements can be confusing, the numbers don't look that much different on paper, but they are logarithmic.

A quiet generator running a 5000 BTU A/C unit makes 53 dB worth of noise. Twice the sound energy would be 56 dB. Double the noise again, now 59 dB, and again, 62 dB, and again 65 dB...

My generator is 2400 Watts, but has the same sized motor as the 2800 and 3000 Watt generators. It's the smallest quiet series generator that can reliable run a 13,500 BTU A/C unit by itself. The Honda 2K models are great, but you'll need two to do the same job.

My recommendation is to save up and buy a good one once.

  • I have had one for about 5 years. It will run my AC till about 5000 ft. If not much else is running. We don't use the AC very much, if it's that hot we went the wrong way.
If you leave the switch for the remote on, it will run the battery down. If you leave the switch off you need to go to the generator to turn it on so what good is the remote. If you start it every day or two it works fine. When we have the generator with us I have it hooked to the TT battery to keep it charged.

There isn't enough room to put in a bigger battery is the reason I put a jumper wire from the generator battery.

It has an automatic choke and a fuel pump with primer and it always starts with the rope. I don't think it makes any more noise then a Honda and you can buy parts for it.

We have a Passport 145 EXP.
It dose have a AC and Microwave, We will not run both at same time.
The powerhouse mentioned has a remote start.

you probably have a 13.5k btu a/c, which that generator will probably NOT run it.
    especially on a hot day.

if you want to make sure that it will run the a/c, i would suggest a minimum of a 3000w generator.
if i were you, i'd be buying the Champion 3100w inverter generator.

    What size A/C?
You might run a 6000BTU unit but not much more.

  • What are you planning on powering with it? I doubt it will run an A/C other than a very small one.
    Clicky (FWIW)
Looks like it's around $650 on Amazon.
Rated 56db at idle, 66db at full power, not the quietest out there, but not the noisiest either.
    Can be paralleled.
Reviews suggest starting problems are common.
