hi, i'm new to trailer camping and just bought a 05 Fleetwood Pegasus 27FQS today. its in perfect condition and great for a first camper. we are going to use it this summer and see what we like and do...

Your RV will certainly have a CONverter, which changes 110 to 12 to charge the batteries and run the 12 V lights and alarms and a few other things.
An INverter changes 12 V to 110 to run 110 V equipment when you are not connected to external power. This can sap your batteries quickly if you aren't careful.
It is better to have a 12 V version of things that you need to use when not connected to shore power (or have a gen running) because they generally are more efficient (use less power overall).
