My wife and I like to dry camp while attending NASCAR at Talladega and Texas. We have a a 35' 50 amp Outback T.T. my question which portable generator do you recommend? Thank you for your replies.

It really only depends on how much amps you want to have while you are boon docking. The more appliances or 120 volt items you want to use at one time will depend on the size (amps of your generator) There are many good ones out there in the market place but first you have to determine your size of the need you want to run different 120 volt items at once. There are several places on line that will give the break down on what the amperage draw is for various appliances Now I'm talking about 120 volt appliances not your twelve volt system. But once you determine your desired usage when boon docking then you can shop around for the make of generator you want to buy

If you want to run your A/C you will need at least a 5500watt unit.

I have the champion 3100 generator. I love it, It runs our AC and lights no problem. Price is much better than the honda's also.

We have an onboard Onan on our TT TH that powers our entire rig as if plugged into shorepower, problem is that it is major overkill most of the time. Since we prefer RVing off the power grid I needed something that could power our AC unit, more fuel efficient, less noisy, and remote start as we have grown accustomed to the one button starting simplicity of our Onan. For us the answer was the Champion 3100 inverter generator, 3 year warranty, great customer service, and runs our rig's AC unit with ease, even at high elevations where we do most of our RVing. Our Onan has performed marvelously providing 1200 hours of service over the last decade, alas it gets to rest a bit as the Champion has stepped in and now gets used 80 percent of the time.
