Propane burns clean. This is good if the exhaust might linger where you are. THat's the benefit, other than clean carbs. Use 100% gasoline and eliminate a lot of carb issues, use Stabil and eliminate most of the rest.
Otherwise, use gasoline.
Gas is safe, I think everyone understands how to use gas, it will not just randomly blow up. The gas fumes are what is dangerous, not the liquid technically, but the gas has to have gone bad for this to matter.
Get some quality Jerrycans, metal, and those will hold gas better than plastic.
Getting gas is easy, much easier than getting more propane.
Your truck bed, topper or not, is not airtight. Fumes will escape easily.
Almost any carburetor can be converted to run on propane, there are kits for the popular generators. Don't bother, just use gas.
