Uncle Bill always bought Pontiac's and therefore GMC pickups. Non Chevy dealers
didn't want a Chevy on their 'new' section and GM rebadged Chevy's with GMC
so that they could also sell pickups
He taught me GVWR GAWR and why he always bought the 'curb' or 'stripper' models
for his custom SS sheetmetal shop.
Always with a wooden bed floor too. Nailed stuff down for the delivery trip, of
which I hated in the summer because there was no AC...
Somewhere around the 90's or so, GMC's became much more high end vs Chevy. As
the option mix was greater and of higher end than offered on Chevy's
I ordered my GMC Suburban because the semi truck dealer only offered GMC's and
the Chevy dealers all (had over 6 deposits at different dealers) all called to
say my order came in...to find it was a 'half ton'...they knew no difference...
Too funny...as have had several discussions with folks who bought
Yukon XL's and told me that they were NOT based on Suburbans... :S
