Mike Up, there are a couple National Forests north of you in Michigan. You should be able to boondock up there, and not have neighbors. Depending on traffic, it appears they are about 2 hours from you. If you don't have 2 hours to travel to get to a good area, then you won't be able to get away from the partiers.
I live in Denver, but I still have to drive about 90 minutes, minimum, to get away from the crowds. Not a problem, to get the isolation we like. If I go to any of the nearby State Parks, and there are quite a few, there are lots of people. I just plan to always drive a while to get to camp. Part of the cost of camping where we like.
