These different markets speak for themselves. If Australians need a fairly small footprint vehicle with more load carry capacity, then so be it. The manufacturers responded.
In the USA if we need class one and two trucks to have a comfortable empty ride, along with just a reasonable load capacity, that works for us.
Personally, I have a Frontier and a F350 crew cab dually. For day to day use on the streets, highways, and around the horse farm ( off road in 4WD sometimes ), the Frontier gets the nod. Nice ride, capable for what I use it for. To give it double the load carry cap, would mean very stiff springs and harder riding tires. I would not want to trade away the ride comfort I have to gain that added load capacity, as much of my use of it is nearly empty ( a couple of tool boxes in the bed, maybe 150 pounds total ).
All this is about the right tool for the job, and the manufacturers have responded with good choices for all these different markets. I like my two choices. Others I'm sure like theirs. It's a good time to be a pickup truck buyer, no matter where you live.
