Globe Type Awning Lights

My DW and I bought a set of those Globe Lights with the coiled cord and plan on hanging from the awning. It can handle 40 to 60watt bulbs but that would be like stadium lights. We have 15w bulbs and still haven't tried them. We really wanted the "flicker typer" but it said they cannot hang upside down. Does anyone else have these and if so, what are you using?

  • I have the black fixture with black coiled cord. Using 60 watt tungsten bulbs. Running through a slide dimmer system. Works great, get a little or a lot what ever the mood calls for.
  • Haven't thought about the dimmer. Great idea nomad. Same idea as candles but electric.
  • I have the globes and I use 40 watt bulbs. I bought a corded light dimmer from Amazon for about $10 so I can set them to as low or high as I want. Here's a link
to what I'm talking about. It is awesome.

  • Why does everyone want to light up a campground? Ever heard of light pollution?

I remember when we did'nt have electricity and had to watch TV by caandlelight.
  • I have 15w bulbs in mine. I had 40w first and needed sunglasses at night when I went out. :B
  • I have the globe light with the clear globes. These are the bulbs that I use. They are not very bright, you couldn't play cards on the picnic table, but they provide enough light to to see around your camp site. LED Bulbs
