Glow Steps are not hard to deploy! The two extra steps in the process are: 1) remove restraining pin that keeps them from opening on very rough roads (in my opinion, I don't think the pin is needed, but it is such a simple step that it is not worth tempting fate), and 2) lift the retaining latch that the pin kept in-place.
You pull out on the top step, much the same as my old steps. You have three choices (maybe that is the difficulty!) in where to "set" the top step. Another decision is needed to decide how close you want the bottom step to be to the ground. Push a couple of buttons, and the stabilizing feet are set.
My old steps were about this "difficult" to set up, as I had to flip-out my bottom step after my top step was in-place.
My point is, these are not difficult to deploy. Mine needed no adjustment to any nuts/bolts, so it is a simple "remove pin; lift retaining catch; pull out steps; adjust feet, if needed. Most of the time the feet won't need adjustment.
The Glow Steps are immensely more stabile than most of the factory steps at the RV show I just went to. Most of them wobbled side-to-side, in addition to not being spaced comfortably. In my opinion,Glow Steps are worth the investment if you will be using your trailer more than a few nights a year.
