Impala sales over the last 5-6 years are down over 50%, meaning 70-80,000 less units sold per year. Canada sales have been fairly stable, but that number is small compared to total sales. Cadillac XTS sales, also made at the plant, are down similarly. US plants can easily make up for closing the Canada plant. Simple matter of economics. Eliminate significant overhead costs to improve profits.
