Seeing as to how Trump was elected by the United States, not Canada, if it is moving back to the USA because of Trump, I would call that a WIN for Trump's policies. Bring jobs home, one of his campaign promises.
From what I have read though, that plant doesn't make the cars that GM wants to continue to produce. Apparently it lacks the technology there to make the more efficient eco style cars they want to make.
There are real reasons for this and that plant IS NOT moving to the US. It is closing along with several here in the US.
Here are the reasons:
The self inflicted trade/tariff war by this administration
The decline in sales of Passenger Cars (as opposed to SUV's and Crossovers)
The move to Electric and self drive vehicles.
It is a move that will help GM actually survive into the future. Ford Motor had already announced the very same approach many months ago.
