I guess I am naive because I don't believe it has anything to do with the tariffs and has a lot to do with the demand of these kind of vehicles.
The tariffs on China are going to hurt, but they need to be done. China does not play by the same rules that we allow for their companies over here. My company can't even own more than half of one of our subsidiaries over there or buy land yet China can buy up all of the mining for rare earth metals in the US allowing them to produce 90% of worlds supply.
They are also not playing by the same rules when it comes to emissions or labor either. Yes, they have come a long way, but they still do not have to abide by the same costly regulations we force one our own companies.
The problem is that no one wants make the necessary sacrifices to pull the band aide to fix the situation because the second they do the other side becomes opportunistically outraged using it as a political football. Over 75 years ago we had a generation that sacrificed their own lives and livelihood for the good of the nation. Now you have little babies that complain because their soda pop can now cost a dollar more because of the tariffs even though it is putting fellow Americans to work. Sheesh, we really have gone down hill.
