GM buying back 6.6L Duramax

I didn't see in that link what the actual problem(s) is with the motor.

Wow, if they are buying them back that probably means no fix to the problem. Not good.

No fix and no new trucks on a GM lot to buy as a replacement.

I don't understand why GM doesn't simply replace the motor.

Sounds like just new trucks. So considering no significant changes to that engine since 2017, must be a quality issue and not an inherent defect. Hopefully limiting the quantity of buybacks.
Hood this doesn’t put a damper on the 500hp+ version promised.

The only thing I can find was on a Duramax forum in comments on a thread. According to that, it seems to be a "heat treatment issue with the block that causes warping and hydrolock"

Thats what I found as well.

Many people made a good living by making Fummins changeovers.

Maybe I should start a Chummins shop?
