Would like some opinions on this deal.I found a 2016 Chevy Silverado 2500HD 6.0 gas with only 20K miles. It’s an LT model with all the extras I would need and it definitely meets my towing needs with its 13K rating. My questions are about the GM Certified warranty and buying a used truck. The truck price is very reasonable and at a Chevy dealership. They have it priced under KBB and giving me a fair trade on my 2005 2500HD. Should I be skeptical? The warranty as explained sounds very good. Why would someone trade this truck with only 20K Miles ? I’m thinking a lease or a reposition. The dealer told me it was too big for their needs. I worried the dealer is doing a quick unload. Either way it’s a nice truck and a price we can live with, it’s just my skepticism about the deal or truck being too good to be true.Opinions welcome. We’ve not dropped a dime on this truck. Yes I’ve checked the area and no 2016 2500HD exists with this low of a mileage at this price. Thanks in advance

With a GM warranty I’d buy it.

Sounds reasonable, contacting the original owner won’t do you much good, may not want to be bothered. Maybe went back to a 1500. Run a car fax, dealer could or you could for about $40.

We bought several low mileage “certified used” Chevy Express 3500 vans (no trucks though) for our small business and they were all great. Some people simply do not put a lot of miles on a vehicle but still want a new one every 2/3/4 years. My son lives about 4 miles from his work. My neighbor lived about 3 miles from his until retirement. Their yearly mileage is very low.

Call up the engine hours.Could be an off lease truck leased by a road construction contractor. May only have 20,000 miles but has sat 6 days a week with the engine idling the better part of the work day. The dealers are really good at cleaning them up and its not uncommon for them to lock out the engine hour readouts.

Great to hear! I know people who trade every few years as well, so it is not that uncommon. It is especially nice when the vehicle is as well looked after as yours is. Enjoy! :B

Follow up to my post.
I’ve purchased this vehicle and I’m very pleased. I have a 12/12 bumper to bumper from GM CPO and the balance of the factory drivetrain warranty. I got copy of the Car Fax report before purchasing and it is definitely a local one owner. It was not a leased vehicle as I found information in the glove box on the previous owner. I feel like I have a brand new truck that was extremely well cared for and gently used, as a matter of fact it’s never even towed. The previous owner was a local business owner and this was his personal truck. For whatever reason he must just get a new truck every couple years and I got his most recent trade, I feel like I got lucky. Turns out the dealer had several others looking at this truck and from all the CPO paperwork it was only on their lot about 10 days.

What does the history report say about it? What does it look like? If it doesn't look abused, it probably wasn't. 20K is not that many miles and I would expect it to look nearly new. It's probably a good deal if the truck fits your needs and wants.

That is a bit of a benefit for sure. So it's like worth another $500 or something? Still sales and marketing.

Maybe that's the case up north. Around here lease's on 2500 and 3500's are very common.

We bought a CPO Traverse.

I'd do it again. Not because it's certified/inspected. I still checked it out and test drove it of course.

But because they extend the factory GM warranty. We had to have some warranty work done for the timing chain and the steering rack (known issue with TSB's on the year we had) and had no issues getting it taken care of.

The certified does give you a bumper to bumper warranty, and the original warranty. I have found that all the certified also have a free car fax.

I have a 2010 2500HD Chevy with the 6.0 and 3.73 gears 4x4. The truck and powertrain are solid. I have 113,000 miles on her and she was exactly 9 years old on March 1st. Never had any oil in it except Mobile 1. Change tranny fluid every 50,000 miles with Valvolene which is a full synthetic and not a belend. Engine likes to rev and drank gas. My only regret is that it came with a 26 gallon gas tank. When she gets to 1/2 I start looking for a gas station. One time while pulling my camper down I-85 between Auburn and Montgomery I put 26.2 gallons in it! I was really running on fumes. Miles remaining said 25!

Just be aware that not all shops report to Car Fax. A person still has to have a car inspected IMO.
