GM...How bad are they ?

I have owned 2 gm vehicles both of which I still have and drive.
A 2005 cavalier that I use back and forth to work 150k miles and the only non wear item (brakes, tires, battery, light bulbs) was a horn button that needed replaced, and the gauges other than the gas gauge do not work but I just use an ultragauge for gauges.
A 2012 2500hd silverado, 14k miles nothing but oil changes and gas so far.
I really rarely have problems with vehicles period. I don't know what some people do to their cars to break them so much. I guess some people could break an anvil with a rubber mallet.
