Before I start, I have owned several Sierras and never an issue. Current truck has no real issues....except..... GM overstated tow ratings by almost 25% on 2014 1500 NBS half ton Sierra Silverado ...

It is only $2,000 to change gears. Not enough to get all lawyered up.
BTW skip the 3.42 and go 4.10 ratio.
I would always recommend keeping the trailer GVWR within the tow rating and ignore the dry weight (UVW).
GVWR looks closer to 9,000 pounds
