I've got a "tow rating" of over #11,000 on my F150... Does that mean I can just go out and get an #11,000 TT and call it good? ;)
With my #5000 fully loaded TT in tow, I'm within #400 of the trucks rear axle rating and #600 of the trucks GVWR.
My guess is I'll max those other ratings long before I get to an #11,000 TT weight.
Those "tow ratings" also don't specify what TYPE of trailer that is either... There are many different types of trailers that put different loads on the tow vehicle, so just going by the "tow rating" and calling it good is usually going to get you in trouble with the trucks other ratings...
Anyway, the only weights that really 'matter' are the door jamb stickers and even those are not really "binding" in any manner either... ;)
Hours of reading on that topic alone, so no need to rehash it now.. :)
Good luck with it all and I'd think about finding a new insurance company too... ;)
