My Insurance and Allied have both sent me a letter saying they are not liable for any damages/injuries because my camper is over weight, and GM's solution is to have me trade in my truck for one with lower gears....What is bothering me about this is since when do insurance companies get involved with towing capacity? How did they even know it changed, and that you were towing a trailer that was all of a sudden to heavy?
And why not, as someone mentions, don't you just spend the money to change the gears instead of on lawyers? Also, towing capacity really doesn't amount to a hill of beans in this case as you are already most likely exceeding your payload with your current TT. Why doesn't you insurance company know about that?
my insurance co isn't all up in my business making sure my TT doesnt exceed my TV's capacities. It could become an issue if there was (heaven forbid) an accident, and it was found to be doing so.
