Both sides have "their" issues and hope they end up in the middle of the negotiating table
Am a union journeyman butcher because mom n dad owned a tiny specialty grocery/butcher shop
At 16 the union representative told dad I had to join the union and checked my paycheck to make sure dad paid me union wages. Cashed it and gave it to mom
Working through college had to join unions for my part time jobs....welders, mechanic, machinist, electrical and a couple more. Even caused a mini strike while a draftsman designing motor controls....was making more than the adult electrical works on the shop floor...they used to let me work out there during crunch time...after they insisted I join their union
One of my automation programs, largest robots in the largest automated system i the world... circa 1970's to 1980's, had US Steel lay off approx 4K and we were not lowed out and about without escort...housed us in Birmingham
Working in Sunlabs was requested by our sales to provide custom CPU modules at a Ford design center. My guys arrived a day earlier to setup...me the next day to supervise...the guard at that Ford Design Center would NOT allow me to park in that parking lot...called my team and local sales rep....came running out to argue...but stopped and took my rental car keys and rove off to park out in the wild...the guard told me that my rental BLAZER would have had all the tires cut as a min.
There is no answer from us not at the table, as we don't know THEIR details and history...
