GM to cut powertrain warranty to 60,000 miles

It sounds like a risky move to me. The problem I see with it is if it doesn't drastically affect sales, will they cut it again in a few years? Remember those wonderful 12/12 warranties of the 70's that, along with making junk, gave the imports the open door they needed into the American market? Hope they don't repeat that strategy.
