Interesting. I always think of cognitive degeneration with age, and forget about the oft occurring regression into childhood. Undoubtedly, I am guilty of both, but can only "see" the former, whilst the latter escapes my notice.
Back to the original topic, one thing I've often thought of with center stack placed OEM integrated trailer brake controls is interference from Big Gulp sized slurpy cups, 1 liter water bottles, or giant travel coffee mugs situated in the center console cup holders.... where the height of such beverage containers might interfere with manual access to the trailer brake control.
I personally have not owned a truck new enough to have an integrated brake control on either side... all of mine have been aftermarket modules hung low on the dash just above the right shin. But looking at photos of new trucks with the center positioned brake controllers coupled with the center console option that extends all the way to the center stack, I've wondered if drinks in the cup holders interfere with brake controller access.
If so, then on that score, there is a distinct advantage to the upper left hand location where GM used to position their integrated brake control. If this issue is indeed a factor, it only makes one wonder even more why GM then decided to change it over to the lower right center.
