I am one that also liked it on the upper left. I think it is silly to mount them down low. It is way easier to use in a situation where it is in your field of view and able to keep your eyes on the road in a situation where you need it rather than leaning down to fumble around or look down to find it. By then you may have bigger issues.
I know I am new to pulling and have only had the integrated controller, and back in the day they were always down low. But it made sense to me to have it up higher. I do see the right side being easier for everyone that seems to drive with the left hand on the wheel though. Maybe top right would have been the best?
