GM vs Ford tow off. Who will win on the Ike?

Spoiler alert: Ram/Cummins won, and it wasn't even entered in the towing event. :?

Towing the Ike. The worlds toughest towing test.

I wish they would have done this in Jan or Feb when the temp was about 15 degrees or less. Or in Aug when the temp is 95. At least they towed an average trailer that some RV'er in the US would tow with their 1/2 ton truck.

It's also good they talked about energy density and that it held "4 gallons of fuel." It's also good to know that these little tiny trucks and trailers got about 3/4 of a mile per KWH of energy used. :E

In any event I thought it was a pretty good test in which the towing public can see how capable these vehicles are.

Darn, that's funny. All my daughter's male friends called each other Dog.
  • General Eisenhower would be shocked!

“It's also good to know that these little tiny trucks and trailers…” Not that tiny.

In this subsection, probably. Ike would be General/President Eisonhower. There is a tunnel on I-70 named after him. It sits at 11,000 feet elevation in the Rocky Mountains. The "Ike" is the hill climb to that tunnel. It is often used to compare the features of trucks as they climb that grade under load.
  • Who cares? Buy the truck that fits YOU and YOUR BUDGET. I think these yearly runs show that any of these 3 trucks will pull even the largest of RVs up Ike. They will pull them consistently, they will pull them safely. One will get there a little faster than others, but its a small distinction between 1st and 3rd. One will get there with a little more fuel in the tank than the others, buts its a small distinction between 1st and 3rd. One will get to the bottom with slightly less brake application than the others, but its a small distinction between the 3.

They are all great products and capable of amazing power and (hopefully) longevity. Find the truck that provides the best compromise of meeting your budget, meeting your aesthetics, meeting your hauling needs and provides a warranty that is satisfactory to you.
