GMC 2500 dimension

I'm trying to determine the bed dimension (length) of a '22 GMC Sierra with Double Cab, standard bed. The literature on the GMC site shows a measured dimension of 82.2" (an inexact drawing only) while right beside this, it states the bed is 6'9" (which is not the same length, of course). Neither refers to outside nor inside measurement and that does not seem possible as the difference is only 1.2", which seems a bit thin if taking into account the end rails/tailgate.

Can anyone advise either way?

I don't have the vehicle (mid-transport on the rails for next week or two) and I am trying to confirm the fit of a potential tonneau cover (also not accessible).

Thanks in advance,

Marv
  • Might be the difference between the inside dimension at the top which is less than inside the bed as the front rail is thicker than the front of the bed.
I’d go measure it but my truck is in the shop.
  • Just measured my 22 Silverado 2500. Inside dimensions are 81 3/4 x 64.
  • Thanks for the replies.

As 81 3/4 matches neither of the two dimensions quoted from the GM site, I wonder where they get their dimensions from?

The reason I am seeking an answer, as alluded to in my original post, is a tonneau cover manufacturer (Bison, in eastern Canada) has a solid tonneau that I am interested in, that a couple persons have mentioned seems a bit short for the bed it is made for. So, I wanted to have exact dimension prior to having a conversation with their customer service. And, as also mentioned, my newly ordered truck is en-route and not available for measuring.

    Thanks again,

    Marv
