Either engine will do the job just fine and by just fine I mean it will get there and do so at a reasonable speed.
The new 5.3 seems to have similar numbers to the 6.0 that is in the 2500hd but you can't get the 3.73 or 4.10 rear ratios the 2500 has. I am thinking the 5.3 will end up towing in 4th gear at 2600 rpm @60mph on the flats. The 6.2 might pull in 5th. If the price wasn't too big of a difference and factor in if it needs premium fuel I think I might consider the 6.2.
Here are the specs on all GM Truck Gas Engines from the GMC website:

BTW don't know if everyone noticed the price is the same for both engines at least in the SLT Version.
Here is a link to the US Department of Energy website http://www.fueleconomy.gov/feg/bymake/GMC2013.shtml
They show a 2013 GMC Sierra K15 4WD 8 cyl, 6.2 L, Automatic 6-spd, Regular Gas or E85 as giving City 12, Combined 14 & Highway 18
This is a 2013 not 2014 so don't know if it is actually the same engine.
Thanks to all for their comments, appreciate them!.....Ernie
