My 6.2(2012)got 1 mpg less than my 5.3 unloaded and the same towing. I drove my brother's 5.3 after 6 months of driving my 6.2 and the 5.3 felt anemic. Even my new 6.0 with 3.73s doesn't pull like the 6.2 with 3.42s, but it does handle towing better. The HD drops to 5th quite a bit more than the 6.2 ever did. FWIW I only ran premium a couple times in 18K miles.
