- chevorExplorerI'm confused too. My truck isn't even 5 years old yet. I did make me enough to pay for itself and a new one though.

Just keeping things in perspective!
I thought it was better then highlighting the 2 million Toyota's that are being recalled, that include Tacoma's. - TerryallanExplorer II

How do you give a 5 year award to a 6 month old truck?
It's call "projection". Based on today's specs multiplied by 5. Simple.
Ron
Simple yes. But accurate, prolly not. They have NO idea how well the thing will hold up. Unless of course they are basing it on the trucks with the same technology that has been used for years, and not on the trucks with any innovative changes.
Butthurt.
:? Not hurt for me. I make parts for GM. I want them to do well, But again. you can't tell how much it will cost to keep up a truck for 5 years, after only 6 months.
That attitude is not reflected in your posts. Anytime you mention GM it is to sling mud.Unless of course they are basing it on the trucks with the same technology that has been used for years, and not on the trucks with any innovative changes.

I can't believe I just said that crap!
Now for some real comments...It's good to see GM rack up some awards. And better yet they need to rack up some sales!
LOL
I'm with you, is this free ad time for OP or what :H 2 threads in two days tells me that sales continue to sag. Guess the bad weather only affects GM for some reason.
Anyway cost of ownership should be a much longer period IMO. Heck I don't have any complaints with a 2004 & 2006 vehicle's. More than I can say for These poor folks. I guess loss of life isn't really cost of ownership in some ratings.
OBTW the rating game flag is just that. Some arenas, ballparks display cheap little flags like " Western Division Champs" while the true big boys display " World Champion's ". The Lakers, Celtics, Steelers, Yankees come to mind.
Clearly with the sales numbers lately they are more like the Buffalo Bills. Sorry NY state.
But I wish them well and good sales in the future :B
Did I mention it's winter :W
Let me go get the 1st two time consecutive winner of " The BIG trophy" It was awarded to GM just a couple of years ago, and so deserved.
I love your loyalty though dadof?girls.
Oh Ric.
Never miss a chance to throw your back handed jabs at GM. Throw in some smileys and it is alright..........just a good ol' joke right?
Do you read your articles that are meant to inflame?
You can hardly hold GM accountable for the 6 Cobalt deaths:Ric's hit piece wrote:

On a related note, what is the trailer tow rating on the Cobalt?
Eco boost was mentioned. Didn't see it.
As for me and GM. I just tell the truth. However IF you had read as many of my GM posts as you claim. You would have seen how I have bragged on their quest for Quality, How they are so picky about the parts that go into their drivelines.
But I guess you just pick what you want to see. - Engineer9860Explorer"Silly awards."
Hahahaha!
U mad bro? - 45RicochetExplorerThere you are again with the " GM Spokesman", not the NTSB spokesman. It must be a problem thus the recall. They all have em. I love the sugar coating some people come up with. Didn't realize GM spokesman could erase the NTSB comment. But heck after that stock buy back a couple of weeks ago, you might be right :W
Go ahead raise your flag again. Champs of Vatican City. Sorry it was the smallest country I could find. Forgive me.
Anyway hope you'll get the coveted prize you guys desire next year. Until then your kissing your sisters with these silly awards. - Engineer9860Explorer

I love your loyalty though dadof?girls. - pronstarExplorerThe award doesn't pretend to project "real world" maintenance costs.
From the site, their 5-year "cost to own" calculations are based on:
- financing costs
- insurance costs
- state fees
- anticipated costs of fuel x mpg
- scheduled maintenance and repairs (based on the owner's manual)
- Kelley Blue Book's "fair purchase price" (not MSRP, but what they feel you should pay)
- projected depreciation
In a competitive truck segment, it's a nice win. - MARK_VANDERBENTExplorerThink I am going to grab an 01 or 02 duramax with new injectors love those trucks!!
- LowsuvExplorergmc 2002 diesel allison purchased new has had no major problems yet .
the best truck i have owned .
i was buying a new big block gasser every 5 years until i bought this allison / mobile .
i know the new ones are better .
i am just too content with 520 ft. lbs . , no def to buy , and reasonable fuel mileage .
even a new dodge is quieter and the duramax was quietest in 2002 .
