Are you looking at new, GMT900 or GMT800 platform?
My travel trailer is about 6400# axle weight and I am pushing 1000# of tongue weight. Total setup of my van and camper is around 15,500# if I recall correctly.
I love the 6L/6 speed combo. My van has the 3.42 axle and does fine towing this combination in 5th gear. It does slow down some on hills if I let it stay in 5th. This past weekend while towing I was playing around with using 4th gear more and it slowed down very little if any going up the hills.
