Been at same seasonal site for 7 (going on 8) full years. During summer months, we visit 3 days each weekend (weather permitting). Away 4 days / week. When away, water is turned off - at the Service post. Fridge is on Electric setting and LP is turned off. The electrical at my seasonal site has been very stable. Thus, no need for Auto with LP on (for backup). If our CG's electrical grid was unstable, then fridge would be set to auto with LP on (as backup).
For Surge Protection, we use "at post" SSP-30 device. re: - click here - Simple, clean and low cost.
If CG's electrical grid is unstable, then I'd spend the extra coin and get PD hardwire EMS with Display unit. re: - click here -
If I was really anal about surge protection, I'd install the proper 3 x Tier system. re: At the Service Post using SSP-30, at the inner Distribution panel using EMS-30 and at each outlet, using outlet surge protector device. Like: - click here -
