For Surge Protection, we use "at post" SSP-30 device. re: - click here - Simple, clean and low cost.
I know there's been a lot of discussion on these so I'm only interested in hearing from those of you who are advocates.......
Is this enough to protect the trailer from all electrical hazards?
The main purpost to buy a surge protector is to 'prevent damage to the electrical system and appliances' within your RV.
Just make sure you read ALL the specs on the one you decide to buy. The less expensive and I have even seen some of the pricey ones also.....that
do NOT come back on when tripped.
Which negates the whole reason a seasonal camper would buy one just to keep food safe.So read the specs before investing in one.
Again from experience shut your RV completely down and unplug from shore water and electric when leaving it unattended.
The cost and inconvenience to repair damage far exceeds the few minutes it takes to turn everything on when you arrive. And come on, waiting a few hours for a fridge to cool down is not a camping crisis.
Is your seasonal site near the chain o lakes area?
