October is a great time to visit Sedona. Rancho Sedona RV Park is the only full hookup campground in Sedona. It's kinda pricey, but a nice setting by the creek. There are a few USFS campgrounds up Hwy 89A in Oak Creek Canyon, but they are still temporarily closed since the Slide Fire at the beginning of the summer. Don't know when they'll open, so you might want to keep checking online. About 15 miles away is Dead Horse Ranch State Park in Cottonwood. Many people like this park. It has two fishing lagoons and a few hiking trails. There are things to see all around the Verde Valley, so staying in Cottonwood is not a bad choice. For boondocking, you can stay off FR 525 and FR 89B, between Sedona and Cottonwood.
