I have been on this forum a long time. I have seen many tires introduced with much fanfare, and many people rushing to them. After the honeymoon and failures start appearing, another supposedly better tire is introduced and the same thing happens. I reminds me of lemmings charging off a cliff.
And the debate over the benefits of ST tires (On which I eventually switched sides) rages on.
It is almost comical though. Some of the most die hard ST proponents are the same ones rushing out to get the latest ST tire.
If they really believed in their ST tires.... They would not be so enthusiastic about the prospects of each new ST tire.
IOW, In spite of their preaching, deep down they know the shortcomings of their tires.
To the OP: I cannot recommend either tire. The Maxxis has had too many failures, and the Goodyear is too new.
I will at this juncture point out that Goodyear made the Marathon, and for many years told us how good they were, while the users racked up failure after failure.
Now they are telling us the same about the Endurance tire.
Maybe they are telling the truth.... This time.
Good year is not the only tire maker to do this. Carlisle is on at least its 3rd ST tire with the same results along the way.
Fool me once, shame on you. Fool me twice, shame on me.
If you really want tires that are as dependable as your TV tires.. They are available. It may cost some extra $$ to make them fit.
LTs in the 16" rim size are the best there is. There are ways to make the swap. It won't be cheap. It will be good.
It is the First thing I do to all of my TTs. As soon as I get it home, before it goes on it's first trip. It gets LT tires. I switched from STs to LTs in 2006. I have never had an LT failure.
I replace them due to AGE at 5 years. (due to the AZ sun).
When I used STs I never had a set of tires make it to their second birthday.
