Until Maxxis stamps a speed rating on the tire over 65mph, stop buying them.
Buy the Endurance or Carlisle HD for half the cost.
It's really that simple in today's ST world, and Maxxis is way behind.
Not hardly...
Many, if not most ST's still carry the 65 mph speed rating and towing at 65 or less is a very good idea. If your tires are rated for higher than 65 great but it is not a license to drive like a fool though you often see many doing exactly that.
Check the braking distances for towing... you can make it go but making them stop takes a lot more road. When your rig is 40, 50 or even 60' long and your trailer weighs as much or more than what your TV, higher speeds can be a recipe for disaster. High speed towing is simply foolish {see also "fuelish"}.
Maxxis do NOT cost twice as much as the other tires cited. Where do you get this stuff? My last set of Maxxis was under $400 mounted and balanced on my 22' TT. Are they giving away Carlisle's and Endurance for $50 a tire now? If so please post where, as I am sure at that price many will want to buy them.
As always... Opinions and YMMV.
