Got a $hitty problem to fix....

Something similar has just happened to us but the whole handle and rod pulled out and it doesn't look like it threads back on? What to do now. Seems like it could be a bad situation....Any suggestions

Ok all fixed, Had to cut the old 1/2 bit of tube off because I could not break the locktite grip without damaging the shaft. Ran a tap through the end of the broken off shaft with about 3/4" of treads, some new locktite and she's as good as new. Only had about 1/2 gal of black tank fluid come out even though I had side elevated some. The bad news was I noticed my rear tire was very low on air. After removal found a screw in it!. To patch or replace. Tire is barley 2 years old and about 2500 miles on it.

I have a sealed system but my valves are all below and accessible.

I had a pull handle get knocked off on a gravel road, it was about a ten minute job and I didn't have to drop the belly pan. There was enough of the old rod to unscrew it. The part that took so long was installing the new one "blind".

Dump Valve Extension Handle.

Are you sure you need to replace the whole valve? The extension handle is threaded on and if that is all that broke you can unscrew the broken piece off the valve shaft and thread a new extension on. Sounded like just the handle broke off. Check my link above if that is all you need. Hans

Whiteeye42, after checking the Valterra sight and looking at the valves, I think I have a 6" extension of the handle that broke. My handles do not butt up against the valve body when closed. I may be able to unscrew the 1/2 collar thats left and get a new ext and be done with it. That would be sweet.

I believe it's just regular expanding foam At least that's what I used when I repaired my tank. The foam does get some UV damage over time from the sun. I imagine you could paint it with some Krylon or something, but I just left it alone.

Iv'e had that happen with a full pooper. No way to empty it, the valve arm pulled out leaving it closed and full... It was ugly....

Replace both valves if you replace one, if it were me.

Thanks opnspaces, I will be trying this in the next week as soon as I get the replacement part in. I think it can be done with just a partial pullback of undercover. Do they just use regular expanding foam to fill the gaps? That's what it looks like.
