I pulled my FIL's TT home from a local campground. Backed the rig up to the trailers normal spot, unhitched, put the truck in drive and proceeded to sink in mud up to the rim :/...it was flat grass. ...

got stuck
here is my dumb move
my best friend and i each got delivred two brand new 1997 chevy extracabs in jan 1997.
i ordered the 7400 vortec 2500 and he ordered the 5700 vortec 1500 , both 4wd .
we left bend on feb 8th in a snowstorm headed for baja peninsula mexico , towing our trailers .
first mistake . never take a brand new rig to mexico.
we spent the most time at mulege , camped. lovely spot .
we had decided to windsurf south of mulege .
we drove onto the sandy beach so we would not have to carry our boards very far to the water .
i had aftermarket larger wheels and tires
i got stuck up to my axles .
mistake two : you can get stuck no matter how shiny your polished aluminum wheels are .
luckily i had packed my yellow nylon tow strap .
of course the 350 chevy pulled out the 454 chevy .
that story was told repeatedly at each campout with our greater circle of camping friends for the 5 years we owned those pickups.
