Grand Canyon - Cold Weather?

I am headed to the Grand Canyon (Trailer Village Campground) on Sunday for a couple of days. The site has full hookups. It is supposed to be really cold (coldest overnight for the 3 days is 20). My question is - should I hook up the water and sewer connections? We are only going to be there a couple of nights. We live in Phoenix, AZ, so I am not really prepared for cold weather and usually try to stay away from it.

We was up there in late OCTOBER one year and froze big time haha... Finally decided to head back to Flagstaff and listen to the trains come by every 12 minutes...

The best times we had was to pick a spot near I40 or maybe down towards Sedona and make that a home base then go do some drive thrus at places like the Grand Canyon, Meteor Crator, Petrified Forest, Wupatki Natl Monument, even YA-TA-HEY NM etc...

Alot to see and do in Northern Arizon

  • Beyond that, the ravens at the South Rim have learned to peck holes in sewer hoses looking for prime morsels, (I know, yum boy) so NEVER hook up the sewer hose and leave it out on the ground when staying there. When you need to dump, you get it out, hook up and dump, and immediately rinse and stow. Alternatively, be prepared to replace the hose, as those ravens will destroy it in a couple hours.
  • Hey Nunyadam:

If you're already carrying water or had water in system lately them maybe, but if just carrying water in tank, or using "bottled" water, then don't hook up.
This way (no system water, just tank) you can have HOT water to wash dishes, use wash cloth for body and NO PRESSURE IN WATER LINES. To be extra safe, just use water (low pressure Water pump, in lines in case a line frose up and has leak potential from stress) during day lite.

Thinking along these lines, so to speak.
Enjoy you trip. It should be lonely at canyon this time of year.
