grease leaf springs?

I had a 1956 rolls royce , the rear springs had a leather case with straps covering the springs . In the shop manual it told how to lubricate the rear leaf springs . All the bushings and ball joints on the front suspension had copper lines running to them , there was an oil can under the hood with a pump to oil the front suspension . It was a pretty neat set up
