Anyways, this is very useful. After some of this feedback I'd taken a harder look at the numbers for a new diesel. The incremental upfront cost seems to be offset by the potential combination of 1)the higher residual value in 6-8 years and 2) avoid the likely cost of a major injector replacement in that window if starting with a used truck with 70k+ miles on it.
So I feel like my options are getting further clarified as a new diesel or and
oldergasser that let's me keep car as daily driver.
