I have one of those 8500 watt contractor generators. I use it when I need big power ON CONSTRUCTION SITES. When I am off the grid camping, I sparingly use my 2000 inverter gen during generator hours and then only as needed to charge my batteries if my solar can't keep up. I agree that noisy generators don't belong in campsites.
