Likely not stability, stopping! This is not stopping on the flat, but stopping at the bottom of a long grade. Equipped with an exhaust brake a diesel has far more retardation than a gas engine. I don't need to touch my service brakes going down a 6% to 7% grade holding back 19,000# with just the exhaust brake.
Coming home last Sunday down the west side of Santiam Pass, watched many in front of me showing brake lights, while I just listened to the rumble of my Pacbrake!
Sorry, but the 6.2L has a built in transmission brake when using the tow haul mode, plus a factory trailer brake system. I have NO problem maintaining speed without riding the brakes on a 5 mile 7% drop while towing 10K.
